Smithward is our cosy Collingwood wine bar at the southern end of Smith Street.
Since opening in late 2015, we’ve loved bringing our dream of a small, European-inspired neighbourhood bar to life.
Our exclusively Victorian wine list features undiscovered gems, and is complemented by a menu of grilled Raclette cheese, as well as a hand-picked selection of cheese, charcuterie and specials served with house made sourdough bread and condiments.
We look forward to welcoming you to Smithward soon.
– Graham & Georgina
Beat the midweek hump with our weekly Wednesday night special of a seasonal dish plus a glass of matched wine for $15.
How do you improve on perfection? By adding more cheese of course. First we create a scrumptious baked mac’n’cheese, then we turn it up to 11 by adding a layer of our molten, golden grilled Raclette. Available Thursdays only, book your place.
We make regular road trips to all corners of the state to source undiscovered gems for Smithward’s unique, exclusively Victorian wine list.
We buy direct from the wineries and have met the makers of each wine, as well as some of their dogs, sheep and kids! From Beechworth to the Bellarine, Gippsland to the Grampians, we love sharing the stories and passion of our local winemakers.

With a vibe placed somewhere between Paris and Portland, I’ve yet to be disappointed by the wine list at Collingwood’s Smithward
The service is twinkly-eyed and engaging… theres Raclette melted to order, cheese oozed directly from the wheel onto boiled spuds with tart cornichons
A little slice of Europe here in Collingwood, Smithward is a class act…

Graham Hill and Georgina Russell have turned the space into an intimate wine bar, and in doing so, have created a little portal between Collingwood and Paris
At this simple and sublime little Smith Street wine bar that’s modelled on the neighbourhood bars you find on every corner in continental Europe, Raclette makes for a best friend to the interesting wines that are on the pour

Collingwood’s Smithward is modelled on the wine bars of Paris and Madrid, with its marble tables, intimate atmosphere and focus on cheese and charcuterie
Smithward reminds me of a little neighbourhood bar you would find in the streets of Spain…
